Battery Foils
Copper Foil
Electrodeposited (ED) copper foil for battery anodes is manufactured by depositing copper ions, via electrolysis, onto a rotating metallic mandrel to form a thin layer of foil. Through this process, very wide and high purity thin foils can be manufactured that are suitable for a range of applications from PCB’s to Lithium ion batteries.
ABM work with cell producers to understand their requirements and recommend a product that will perform optimally in their process. Working across the full spectrum of ion batteries, the ABM team has the experience to ensure the foil supplied is optimal for the customers coating process.
ABM are able to provide material that is unique to a customers process; tailoring surface finish to aid wettability and adhesion, thickness and mechanical properties to reduce wrinkles and minimise deformation and ruptures. In addition, the foil specification AvEDCu01 is used extensively by cell manufacturers and has shown to be a reliable foil for coating.
Superior ED copper foil for lithium-ion battery manufacture
High elongation and tensile strength to optimise performance during cell production.
Uniform mechanical and surface properties.
Custom specifications available upon request.
Short lead times to help get your battery product into production quicker.
Quantities available for both R&D and mass production.
Very wide foils available up to 1300mm.
Rolled copper foil for battery anodes is typically used when ED foil does not have the required mechanical strength for the slurry (e.g a heavy coating), or the foil dimensions required are thicker than typical battery thickness’s (>0.018mm) or for when the coating is needed on two identical surfaces.
Produced via cold rolling and annealing, rolled copper foil is used for non standard battery applications and ABM offer this product to customers who require these special properties.

High-Performance Pouch Film for Solid-State Battery Applications
As solid-state battery (SSB) technology accelerates toward commercialisation, the demands on packaging materials are growing more extreme. Manufacturers require solutions that can endure high temperatures, withstand ultra-high pressures, and maintain barrier integrity under aggressive processing conditions.
Our high-performance safety pouch film has been specifically developed for these challenges, offering mechanical strength, thermal stability, and chemical resistance suitable for next-generation SSB designs.
Safety Pouch Film: Built for Extreme Heat and Pressure
Performance in Warm Isostatic Press (WIP) Conditions
Solid-state battery cells are often manufactured using Warm Isostatic Pressing (WIP), subjecting the pouch to intense conditions, often above 100°C and 4,000 bar. This pouch film is engineered to survive and perform in that environment, reducing porosity and maintaining seal strength throughout the process.
Qualified by major OEMs, this film supports solid-state battery applications where conventional pouch materials fall short.
Key features
- High rupture strength at room and elevated temperatures
- Thermal durability under WIP conditions up to 120°C
- Electrolyte resistance over extended exposure (Day 1 & Day 7 tested)
- Low porosity and deformation post-WIP processing
- Compatible with solid-state and hybrid lithium chemistries
